Paul Phoenix Workshops

The Philadelphia Boys Choir, Philadelphia Girls Choir and Philadelphia Vocal Conservatory have hired Paul Phoenix (of the Kings Singers: http://www.purplevocals.com/)  to lead workshops and master classes for a full weekend on February 21, 22 and 23.

Paul will be giving a lecture on Monday, February 23 at 7pm. This lecture is open to any interested music director or musician.  Paul’s lecture will be addressing “Bringing the English Choral Tradition to life in performance”.

In addition, we have time slots available for you to bring your choir for a free master class with Paul! You select a song or two that your choir knows well, and he will work with your choir on that selection. Or, if you’d like to use that time in another manner, he is open to suggestions! There will be slots for 4 choirs available. The first slot is for any choir that can make a field trip out of the opportunity, and the other three slots are after school.

Monday, February 23

Choir 1: 12:30pm - 1:15pm
Choir 2: 4:00pm – 4:45pm
Choir 3: 5:00pm – 5:45pm
Choir 4: 6:00pm – 6:45pm

We will simply fill these slots on a first-come, first-served basis. Send an e-mail to music director Jeffrey Smith (jsmith@phillyboyschoir.org) if you would like one of these slots for your choir.

The lecture and all classes will take place at our new facility in Center City: 1336 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA  19123. We do not have our own parking lot, but there is a cheap lot next to our building, as well as metered parking all along the street (there are always plenty of spots available).

If you are interested in bringing your choir, and/or you would like to attend the lecture, please RSVP by sending an e-mail to Jeffrey Smith (jsmith@phillyboyschoir.org). We need to know how many will be attending the lecture, and who to contact in case there are any changes.
